Our current preferred configuration for the 12mm sleeve bolt is using a 10mm (3\/8\") hole hanger that goes on the hex bolt. For 10mm sleeve bolts, either configuration is fine, yet an 8mm hanger on the bolt is still our preferred way. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor all general rock climbing and routes with more traffic, we recommend the 12mm sleeve bolt size, especially for any overhanging or steep placements. 10mm sleeve bolts are fine for less steep routes (low angle). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e6\/5\/25 Update: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe 12mm 316SS sleeves (batches 0824 and 0425) are on the slightly wider end, so we recommend using \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/hownot2.com\/products\/rotary-hammer-drill-bits-metric\"\u003ebetter quality drill bits\u003c\/a\u003e with 4-cutter-tips on the wider end of the ANSI standard. This will better ensure successful installations. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe recommend using 4-cutter drill bits for a more straighter and rounder hole, which the one-piece sleeve benefits from. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe also strongly recommend cleaning your holes well before installation. And replace your drill bit or chase the hole with a fresher bit when you begin noticing the sleeve bolt becoming much harder to hammer in . If the embossed text on the hex bolt is becoming to become smashed and unintelligible from having to hammer a lot and hard, you definitely need a fresher bit. Our current preferred configuration for the 12mm sleeve bolt is using a 10mm (3\/8\") hole hanger that goes on the hex bolt. This will better ensure successful installations. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe recommend using 4-cutter drill bits for a more straighter and rounder hole, which the one-piece sleeve benefits from. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe also strongly recommend cleaning your holes well before installation. And replace your drill bit or chase the hole with a fresher bit when you begin noticing the sleeve bolt becoming much harder to hammer in . If the embossed text on the hex bolt is becoming to become smashed and unintelligible from having to hammer a lot and hard, you definitely need a fresher bit.
