Description & Tech Specs
Break gear fear in the wild like we do with the SlackSnap Mobile kit. With a working load limit (3:1 safety ratio) of 30 kN and a MBS of 90 kN you can bust bolts at the crag or stress test gear onsite. Wherever you can go, the SlackSnap Mobile can too!
This pulley kit is an 11:1 that gives you a 9:1 true advantage. 1kn on the pull strand = 9kn of actual force on the master point. For comparison, an average person pulling while standing can achieve 0.5kN. A big strong person with a foot pushed up against a tree can get 1kN.
BASE KIT Gear Guide:
This is universal regardless if you test with rock anchors or tree anchors. It's what you use regardless of how you pull it and how you measure it. The kit includes:
1 x 40m Edelrid Pintail Lite 9.0 mm
2 x 6 mm HPME Arete Soft Shackle
4 x SMC 3" Double Prusik Minding Pulley
2 x SMC 3" Single Prusik Minding Pulley
5 x 8 mm 304 Steel Quick Links
2 x Pulley Defenders with bolt kit
1 x Bag Pad
The kit price is simply the items added up. If you already have old rope or some pulleys or a bag you want to put it in, each component is sold individually including the pulley defender + bolt, so you can order just what you need. You MUST dedicate break test equipment to break tests only. DO NOT USE GEAR IN THIS SYSTEM AND THEN FOR PPE (LIFE SUPPORT) LATER.
Additional components you may want:
Brains: LineScale 3i + Defender has no cable, is super light, has an app and can go up to 30kN without breaking. SlackSnap's 50kN load cell is clearly stronger, it's cheaper but has a cable coming out of the side. Decide what is right for your context.
Muscle: OPTION 1 - Pull with 4-5 friends in row boat style (DO NOT PULL STANDING UP). OPTION 2 - Drill powered pulley. A Z2R or Z2A is very grabby because it only needs to pull in one direction as opposed to a Z3 wheel which needs to go up AND down. The Z2 series can give you 2kN with the included 9mm rope, 4kN if you pull on the tail. Then it slips, being a load limiter. OPTION 3 - Pull with a motorized vehicle. Do NOT attach the tail directly to the vehicle but a fuse so it will break if the sample is stronger than you anticipate, therefore not overloading your system. All of these options cannot be in the line of fire of the gear. It needs to be off to the side behind a shield in case things go flying. Wear PPE gear (eye protection!) AND do NOT look at things when they break. Record it with your phone.
Anchors: Tree anchors and Rock anchors are two kits we'll build out soon. We have oversized concrete screws with oversized hangers just for this occasion. HUGE soft shackles to be more versatile than spansets. Coming soon.
Super Size Kit: Add a giant arborist pulley and a 2:1 to get 50kN (stronger load cell option required). More on this later.

Disclaimers:
This is a powerful tool. Being able to put 6,700lbs of force on things with relatively little input is great power which requires great responsibility. Every component must be tied redundantly and unilaterally so it can't go flying in any direction if something breaks you are not expecting it. Do NOT look at samples when they break. Do NOT be in a location that you can be hit with something if any component of the system breaks.
