The "i" stands for "improved".
Improved, as in revised and thus better than the predecessor in terms of torsion resistance, and temperature stability.

The LS3i features a few minor refinements, such as:
- solid reverse side (no more inserted plate)
- slightly larger front label (but same OLED)
- less torsion and bending sensitivity
- less temperature sensitivity (almost perfect temp. compensation)
- 10kN higher true breaking strength (15 instead of 14 tons MBS)
- better IP rating (IP68-0.1m instead of IP67)
(the specs, electronics, OLED display, etc. remain the same)

These cases are 3D printed out of a flexible TPU material with an internal shock absorbing structure, making them the best protection available for your lineScale2 or LineScale3! Hinged access door allows you to quickly see and interact with the screen while still providing protection during break tests! Cutouts in the back of the case allow charging and data transfer without removing the case(must use cable adapter for data transfer, LineScale3 flash drive does not fit in cutout). 

The two halves of the case are secured by our meticulously designed toroidal holding elements, crafted from a unique blend of high-performance elastomers. 

Just kidding, they're normal O-Rings! We send two spares with each case, but if you happen to lose those you can pickup a couple -114 O-Rings from your local hardware store.

These DaySensor load cells have great specs for the best price we're aware of online.  The load cell we use in our break test machine was $1500 + $400 for the eyes.  These units go up to either 50kN or 100kN with an external reader that would do most of the testing we do here at HowNOT2, displaying peak force values as well as a graph showing force over time.  The LineScale 3i is a great load cell if you want to measure activities as it is an all-in-one without any cables and records internally.  HOWEVER, if you don't need that, you can save half the money on something that is stronger and faster.  The 50kN units are small in size, roughly the same as a LS3 and fit our 5 TON SHACKLES (not included) perfectly with the swivel eyes that are included.  If you need something even stronger look to the 100kN option which comes with rod end bearings that fit our 12.5 TON SHACKLES (not included). Or, if you prefer something you can connect straight to with soft shackles, we also carry 100kN column style load cells which come with heavy duty eyebolts.

Note: Videos show an older style 50kN load cell, new models are as shown in the photos and are slightly smaller with upgraded rod end bearings (eyes). Load cell reader does not support data export.
