Description & Tech Specs
Wondering if your quick links will work with this chain or other anchor hardware? Check out our compatibility chart here!
We offer pre cut lengths or "by the foot". This 316L stainless chain is passivated by Climbing Taiwan to be even more corrosion resistant. We do NOT carry 304 stainless chain (see below for why) but feel free to mix with other 304 stainless hardware such as hangers and quicklinks, as galvanic corrosion won't happen in any human lifetime.
The price of 1 link is $1.25 ($1.50). Every precut requires 1 sacrificial chain. Therefore 1 link by itself is the price of 2. 2 is the price of 3. Etc.
12" of 8mm = 8 links. 12" of 10mm = 7 links We have some precut and we can just sell continuous lengths by the foot. If you see we have a lot by the foot, but not the precut length you want, email us at contact@hownot2.com and we'll make those for you.
Climbing Taiwan UPDATE 9/30/24: It was recently brought to our attention that some of our CTW 8mm 304 & 316 high-strength quick links do not fit inside our current 8mm 316L chain, nor do our 10mm 304 quick links. We checked with our chain supplier and analyzed the recent batches of chain we have been receiving and they adjusted the width by about 1mm. It was an adjustment we didn't catch, that advertently affected the compatibility of our chain and quick links. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are currently in the process of changing to standardized DIN chain for more consistency and compatibility.
Climbing Taiwan notes: We have avoided sourcing 304SS chain because it is a welded product and either choosing a low-carbon stainless steel and/or annealing helps add more corrosion resistance. Choosing 304L chain would cost almost as much as 316 chain because that steel grade isn't commonly used in China. We did not choose regular 316 stainless steel chain because it doesn't do as great in our salt-spray testing, some tea-colored staining will show up around the welds after a while. So we went with a stainless steel chain that uses both 316L parent material and 316L filler material. The low-carbon stainless steel helps prevent chromium carbide precipitation. This better corrosion resistance really shows in our salt spray testing; in our 1-month of salt-spray testing, the 316L chain still looks great.
